Are you on Facebook? (or MySpace) If so, do you use the Causes App? Can you take a second and tell me in the comments section?(questions below after paste)
About Causes(cut and pasted from the Facebook site

1. Am on both. 2. Yeah, I use it. 3. Autism Awareness (because I was invited by a friend, and this is when I added the app); Williams Syndrome Awareness (because my cousin has this disorder and there's such little public knowledge about it); Habitat for Humanity (because I want to actually participate in it one day) 4. no :(
cool- thanks for responding:) do you ever check back on these causes? is it more for your own awareness...trying to stay in the loop of something...get more info when it is provided or to send a message for others to check it out? like a banner or sorts? Habitat for Humanity is wonderful. Hope you get to participate! are you hoping for local or overseas?] peace D
thanks for responding!:) TOMS was one of the first I joined on myspace- great simple idea! I don't know Falling Whistles..will have to look that up. Along the lines of Stop Human Trafficking is another good one...THe Emancipation Network that a friend of mine helped start. he runs madebysurvivors.com. check em out!
are you considering donating through the causes app eventually or is there something that stops you? I think it's such a great way for friend networks to collaborate to do something really useful that they can see build up day by day... this was a neat video I saw a while ago about this sort of thing:Dane Low for ROom to Read
No problem. I ADORE TOMS, I have been doing a lot of volunteering through them lately! Falling Whistles is very new but a great, great cause. Their website is not fully up but they have a facebook group with tons of info. It's funny that you post that link, just last night I was on made by survivors looking at Christmas gifts!
The reason I haven't donated through that is because I don't have a credit card (I'm so scared to get one, I already spend too much money!). The donations I've made to TOMS and Falling Whistles have been in person and via paypal.
1) yes, both 2) Only on FB 3) bone marrow drive, breast cancer awareness, rock the world (or something like that), abuse victims and another I can't remember 4)not through the sight, but yes. 5) It's a good way to get more awareness about some little known causes.
thanks for responding:) I agree on the awareness. curious- did you donate before joining the cause or after? any reason why you would or would not donate through the Facebook/Causes website? if you saw it was really making a difference, would you donate one dollar to each cause you support and then spread the word? I think Facebook can really be used in an amazing way like that...having friend networks collaborate to make huge changes with only a tiny contribute on the part of each. I'm excited to see that happen but so far tons of people join up with the causes but for some reason don't donate anything..imagine..just one dollar per member...but what that can mean if it spreads...
I donated before I joined the causes. I don't donate through the websites because I dislike using credit cards online. I would rather write a check.
I've noticed the same thing, that no one seems to donate through the causes. I know some of my friends don't have the money to donate. Other friends, like me, don't like doing it online.
It's easy to join a cause and feel like their helping without actually needing to do anything, like participate in walks or donate money. And it does help. There have been some causes I didn't know, so I read about them and learn about something I didn't know about.
1. Both but I use Facebook more often 2. yes 3. Humane Society, Cure Diabetes, Freedom to Marry, Job's Daughters, March of Dimes, Shriner's Hospital, Breast Cancer, The Freedom Writers 4. No 5. No, I dont have much money and I hate to use credit cards online. If was going to donate I would do it on a local level. 6. No because many people would choose not to join the app. I joined to spread awareness of the causes and to show what causes were important to me.
