It was like burning, but only at first.

Minato recognized the sensation of being in a female body from the virus he'd had, months ago with Itsuki and clothes buying and that was the beginning, wasn't it? Before they knew they'd messed up? Before the world ended. No wait, it hadn't, just for everyone but him. That wasn't what disoriented him. It was being physical, real again, knowing something but pressure and darkness and alone. It was like being held underwater and being held and held and held, and instead of being let up you had to crawl your way to surface, scrabble with tooth and nail. He'd long ago stopped thinking he'd get anywhere, but now - air ( ... )

Marquis watched the show, even felt something of pity. Death was very dark, and very, very cold. He turned and picked up a kettle from a nearby stove.

"I'm a professional Minato, and no- it's never safe." He poured a cup, just one, and placed it on the table before the possessed woman with a tilt of the head and one swift step. "You should know that, shouldn't you? No need to waste time."

He took a seat, reclining back in the chair across as he spoke. "I need to know more about how you're keeping this 'Nyx' at bay. Everything." The smile he offered was sharp and unpleasant. "Try not to lie will you? I personally don't feel like cleaning up your messes."

That stung, more because he didn't remember how to grapple with emotion than because Minato was offended. "I tell the truth," he said sharply, voice still rough.

He got a handle on living before he answered. It took some time to form words again, to form words for the inexplicable. He knew these things innately, in the core of him, at the soul, and he had trouble vocalizing on the best of days.

"There's... people. That want death. They - speak to her, it, directly, and I - "

Pause.

"She can only hear me now."

Well wasn't that interesting. By all accounts then Minato was a distraction of sorts, and that was where the tricky business lay.

"Can only you distract her?" He asked, watching the shell body closely, a particularly fascinating chapter of a book unfurling.
