This is perfect and just magical. I haven't read this wonderful a fic in a very long time so you've made me very very happy today! Thank you so much.

One tiny critique and a comment: In iv, about 5 paragraphs in: "I keep replying it..." Should be "replaying" no?

Also... I see a lot of fics with a drunk!Jane... or drinking Jane. But have we ever seen him drink? When Bosco died, he and Cho it seems didn't partake. I'm trying to remember the pub scene in S1. Anyway, you had Jane be the one to stay in control, and not drink to excess so it still fits with the character. Just wondering.

Beautiful, beautiful job.

Oh, thank you so much. I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

And yes, you're completely right. It should be replaying. I appreciate you telling me that, since it's something that both my beta and I missed, and I try to avoid mistakes it at all possible!

I can't remember the pub scene from S1 off the top of my head, but I just found it on youtube (here). There's one beer that LOOKS like it could be close to him/his at one point in time. I did think about the scene after Bosco's death before I wrote this, and I decided that even if he had no intentions of getting drunk (which I assumed he wouldn't in these circumstances), Lisbon probably also wouldn't drink like that alone so Jane drank slowly along with her. I felt like it fit enough with both characters, and I did put a lot of thought into setting up the different scenarios. So yeah, if you're wondering, that's what I came up with, haha!

Thanks again! :)

Well, it is admittedly extremely difficult to write in character, believable Jane/Lisbon stories, which is why yours was such a lovely find this morning. Frankly the number of stories I start which involve Jane getting thoughtlessly, sloppy drunk, or worse yet running thoughtlessly into danger or some such... I enjoyed the level of thoughtfulness. I agree that the way you wrote it is plausible, even if there isn't direct screen canon to support. It is true to the characters. IMO if one is not going to accept the characters as presented on screen, then what's the point of fanfic? I want to see how the Jane and Lisbon we know might actually find each other, and you did that beautifully. Anyway. sorry about the rant. :) I'll look forward to your next fic!

Yeah, it IS hard to get to believable situations for Jane/Lisbon stories, and I appreciate the compliment. I love, love, love writing J/L, but I also spend a lot of time trying to make things as realistic as I can.

No worries about the ranting. I totally and completely agree! :)

Lovely! I think the first scene is my favourite, but they're all wonderful. Awesome fic. :)

Hahaha. That is my gratuitous making out scene. I couldn't help myself. It had to be done ;)

Anyway, thanks so much for all of your comments. I really appreciate them :D

I love five things fics like this, and I'm a sucker for some of the tropes you used, but what I liked the most was the characterisation, the fact that they're adults and recognised what their reactions and feelings meant, but had valid reasons, expressed in the fifth section, for not acting on it.
