Allan was enjoying the warm evening, and the chance to have a hassle-free drink. Guy drank enough wine that he didn't really notice when the odd half-full one went missing. He was settled in a comfortable little dip in the ground, in the middle of some nice tall grass that made him pretty hard to spot until you got right on top of him. And that was handy, because that arsewipe Fordwin had just gone past on evening patrol, and hadn't even seen him. Good. All the guards were the same anyway; bunch of bloody jobsworths. He gestured with the bottle at Fordwin's retreating back and muttered "yeah; and good riddance to you an' all ( ... )

Caro had thought she was alone, but when she heard a voice, mentioning the sheriff, and Robin Hood she presumed. The voice came from a patch of tall grass and it startled Louise and she began to growl.

Caro stood up cautiously, and looked round to spot who the voice belonged to. Louise loped over to where the voice was and stood close, barking.
"Hello? You startled me." she said, relaxing as she realized that anyone lying down in the grass probably was no threat to her. She kept a hand on the hilt of her dagger, however, just in case.
(ooc: your posts make me laugh so much! :))

He relaxed a bit when he realised it was a girl. He wasn't in the mood for an argument right now - not that he ever really was, of course. He shushed her dog, hoping the noise wouldn't bring Fordwin back over, but he wasn't too worried; the barking hadn't really bothered him much, and Fordwin was much stupider than him.

"Did I? Sorry about that. Just got someone on my case at the moment, and it's just his style to creep up on me and bother me when I'm having a nice quiet bit of time to myself."

It hadn't passed his notice that she had her hand on her knife, but it didn't worry him. A girl coming upon a strange man in the evening would be an idiot not to have her weapon ready.

OOC - Well thanks! Allan's a funny guy, so he kind of makes it easy for me ^_^

Caro released the grip on her dagger. Seemed she wouldn't need it.

Caro chuckled, and Louise stopped barking, and tried to sniff the stranger's hand. "There's only one Robin I know, and I think that's how I recognize you...What's your name? I'm Caro, previously of Locksley, but lately, Sherwood's been more welcoming than the dungeon. Do you know Marian?"

Caro knew very well this was Allan A Dale, the former outlaw that she and Marian had spoken of in the winter, but she was sure he didn't know who she was. While confused as to why he would ever switch sides, Caro decided not to question him until she knew for sure it would not lead to her needing her dagger.

Allan shook his head. "Naah. S'getting dark now. Evening patrol went by not long before you turned up; the night shift'll start soon, for those places as have it, and they'll be staying still until dawn. No good them wandering around the countryside in the dark; they're better off staying by the thing they're actually guarding. Least there's torchlight there."

The dog came over to him again, and he scratched it behind its ears affectionately. "Aaah," he said to it. "You're a good-" he glanced under its belly, "-girl, ain't you?"

Caro laughed.
"Well, alright then. I'm do well with a bit of company for a while anyway, although I don't want to steal firewood, if I can avoid it."

Caro watched as Louise quickly befriended Allan. She was impressed. Either Allan was just really good with dogs, or Louise was that sick of her. Either way, Louise had never before been so eager to trust a stranger, particularly a man.

"Louise sure likes you." Caro said. She held back the obvious statement that she too had a soft spot for the former outlaw. It made her think, how far would she go to regain anything close to a normal life?

Allan grinned. "You won't get far as an outlaw if you don't wanna steal anything." Before she protested, as he was sure she would, he added, "but I know what you're getting at. Don't wanna steal from your own village. Or your old village, anyway. Makes sense. Never shit on your own doorstep, as they say. Well, you won't have any problems, there's a dead tree just upriver over there. That should burn lovely if you break off a few branches."

When she commented on how well he was getting on with her dog, he couldn't help but smile again.

"Yeah, dogs tend to like me. Dunno why, but I can't complain. That's got me out of a spot or two in the past. Then again, helps if you've 'ad one of your own, don't it? I bet you understand dogs a lot better since you've had her."

Caro groaned at the reminder that it was no longer her village and narrowed her eyes at his comment about shitting on her own doorstep. He was right, though, and she knew it.

"Oh, well in that case, firewood shouldn't be a problem." she smiled warmly and Louise took a step back from Allan, and play bowed. "You wanna play, do you girl?" she chuckled at the big ebony colored dog as Louise picked up a nearby stick and went to nudge Allan's hand.

(OOC: Oh wow, are we even still active? I hope so!!! Sorry for the wait and the long post, a bit of writer's block going on here!)
