I've always had a name for eating a lot-I think most of my friends will attest that I'm a dangerous critter at the feeding-trough. I can't imagine how many times people have looked at me and said, in pained and envious tones, "How do you stay so slim?On a whim, I've decided to tally up my calorie count, and see how much I get through per day. TBH I've never paid much attention to those who claim to know what we should eat. Calories are fundamentally and joyously fungible and as such I don't fret over their actual source.

Does a wild wolf worry anout over-eating? No - he/she eats what seems appropriate at the time and caches the rest for later. Wolves traditionally use a hole in the ground or a space under a rock; I'd rather suggest you use a refrigerator.

The "eat what you want when you feel like it" strategy has served me well for nigh-on half a century - and my weight hasn't varied by more than about five pounds for 25 years.

Obviously the basic factor is (calorie intake - calorie expenditure) but it's equally obvious that there are profound physiological differences too. I'd get very skinny on 1500 kCal/day even if I never moved at all.

Thank you! I knew you'd mentioned it somewhere and I trawled 120 entries back in your journal looking for it, but didn't see it. Bookmarked now. :)
