My interest in the 2016 presidential election had some parallels to my interest in Obama's push for health care reform. I really thought that the shock of Brexit meant Trump couldn't win. I'm really nervous for pretty much anyone who isn't a straight white man at this point, I sincerely hope the hate speech and crimes don't get kicked off as much as they did after Brexit, especially since Americans have guns and Brits don't.

Part of me honestly believed that Trump was campaigning as a joke, to expose the crazy of the alt right especially considering how inconsistent his 'messages' were.

I was hoping the same thing, but watching the steady stream of appointees (and all of the background reports on them) is making me more and more pessimistic. My only hope is that this creates a large rift on the right and eventually there are people from a wide political spectrum trying to throw sand in the gears of his machine.
