I'm a total sucker for match-related fic, and this one is an absolutely perfect example. Oh, I understand Sergio so well here. I don't get how so many referees still fall for divers, and how much they still influence matches. Robbed, indeed. And the last line is fantastic, and so so true.

Thank you! I'm so glad you liked this. I love match-related fic, too. Sergio is always a good character for it, because his opponents know it can be relatively easy to get him booked - especially last season when he got booked all the damn time, even when he didn't do anything.
(Okay, I'll shit up now, you know how I get when it comes to Sergio)

I think it's incredibly unfair that some players are marked "bad boys" and get carded a lot more easily than others. I wouldn't exactly call Sergio a "bad boy", of course, there are worse players in the Bundesliga (and some do deserve the title!), but referees do seem rather eager to book him or send him off.
