2 drabbles, Juventus

So, these ideas came from a chat with a friend a few days ago. I'm aware that this can be considered disturbing and sick, so I just felt like "warning" you about that. Also, I hope it's visible where "Persistence" comes into the picture - I guess that can be quite vague in the first case, really. But I hope it still counts :-D

That said, here we go:

Title: Childhood memories
Characters: Cesare Maldini / Paolo Maldini (yes, really...)
Rating: R for the topic, but probably just PG(-13) for the story.
Author: zimena
Disclaimer: I don't believe this is even remotely true - it happened only in my head!
Prompt: Persistence
Team of choice: Juventus

He used to just lie still when it happened.

Sometimes, he would hide under the covers, pretending to be asleep. However, his father always knew the difference between that and real sleep - would sit by the bed, run his hand through Paolo’s hair, convince him to be a “good boy”, as he said.

Paolo used to believe that things were supposed to be this way. Still, he felt nothing but disgust at his father’s ragged breathing, and then an incomprehensible shame.

Because this was his fault, right?

The tears only fell into his pillow, when he was alone again.

Title: Nightmares
Character: Paolo Maldini
Rating: PG
Author: zimena
Disclaimer: I don't believe this is even remotely true - it happened only in my head!
Prompt: Persistence
Team of choice: Juventus

The nightmares never stop.

He has been having them for years, and knows all too well what it’s like to wake up feeling cold and sweaty at the same time. For a moment, he feels just as vulnerable as he used to be back then, knows that this is all he was ever worth. Sometimes, it takes a loud scream to take him back to reality; other times it’s enough to feel Adriana snuggle closer, still half-asleep.

The next morning, he tells her that it was just a dream. However, he knows that it’s one that will haunt him forever.
