I don't have an appropriate hug icon, so have scruffy Martin Freeman in lieu. I'm sorry you're losing something that ought to be a source of strength and support. :(
I've been drifting away for a long time, but I'd always had the idea 'Someday it'll be better, they'll figure their shit out" but that's... not going to happen. Or not soon. Maybe not in my lifetime. Pox.
Scruffy Martin Freeman is pretty much a hug in 100x100 pixels anycase.
I see the kids I mentored in my youth group a few years on Facebook, and a lot of them have good heads on their shoulders. They're asking good questions, at least, and not really liking the answers they're getting. I guess a lot of them will come to the same conclusion I did, which makes me even sadder.
Raised atheist here, but - I am sorry that the final straw happened, both for your sake and for the sake of still practising Catholics (oh, Vatican, you do not need to join the War on Women, you really freaking DON'T).
The ONLY thing this could possibly accomplish is to piss off, alienate and possibly harm Catholic women - not to mention any people who are relying on those nuns and their work with poverty and economic injustice.
