That being the sound of the gauntlet that I've thrown.

If you're reading this, I challenge you.

I challenge you to a posting of polemics, a duel of (i)'deas, a chorus of concepts, an eyeful of ideas, a mailing of maundering missives.  Call it a quest after question-answers.

(Sorry, I have Phantom Tollbooth in my mind.  And a shout out to my whimsy- ( Read more... )

You can do as you will, of course, lass. But I like the idea of all of us having a few days to gather and organize thoughts, possibly put a polish on wording, and posting on the same day--when everyone interested will know (hopefully) to look about for entries. If people post at random through the weekend, folks are bound to miss some of them.

If you're eager to get it online, could I ask you to repost it on Monday?

At least you didn't threaten to hold your breath.

If you post "Are we there yet?" every five minutes this weekend, I will not be alone in wanting to kill you.

The Phantom Tollbooth is one of my favorite books (and was one of my favorite movies as a kid, too). And yes, I get the reference to the ministers and their multiple restatements. I still have a copy of it at home...

*smiles* I have a few copies lying about.

When I was a freshman in the dorms, a lot of folks were a little bit homesick. I started carrying around a copy of the Phantom Tollbooth, and would go down the hall reading to people, then tucking them in, kissing their foreheads and turning out the lights. I had so many people asking for the tuck in service that it generally took me over 2 hours to get through it all.

That is a fantastic idea. I wasn't particularly homesick at my undergrad - it's a little worse out here across the country from my parents, but still not too bad, but I'd still love to have someone do that.

AWWWW. =)

that is so adorable and sweet.

Yanno, THAT'S one of the things I'd like to see more of in education: feeding the emotional needs of the students.
