Pred is the same with me. When things get bad with my autoimmune bullshit I now get put on methylprednisolone (medrol)which works for me without the side effects. Maybe you can ask your doc if that'd work for you?

Pred turns me into a raging hell beast with moments of nice. It also makes me feel like crapola. Sending lots of love and hugs your way, in hopes of a quick recovery.

You got to do what you feel is best for yourself, but if your doctor won't listen to you, I think you need to start looking for another doctor. If you don't want to take a medication and your doctor is telling you to stay on it, it's time to get a second opinion. I strongly believe in a person's intuition being right, and you should definitely listen to it! I've regretted it every time I didn't.
