Exertion/Recuperation

I am again in Salt Lake City, assisting at the Integrated Movement Studies certification program. For background, this is a certification program in Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis, and I completed the program two summers ago. Thanks for posting this. I haven't done much thought on Exertion and Recuperation before, but I can already see how it would be a very useful perspective.

Thank you for giving me words to describe this!

Being with friends at shows, festivals, campouts and whatnots is a physical, mental, and emotional exertion for me. I know just how far I can push myself physically now (whee!) before I need serious recuperation. Oh but there is always recuperation from that in the form of deep deep sleep. The partying is a recuperation from work's constant motionless problem solving. The work provides my brain's needed balance of left and right hemisphere activity and a feeling of marked accomplishment. Put all that in a never ending circle and it's a decent model of my life.

I do miss you! You're in my thoughts and stories.

You pose an interesting question. I don't think I'm actually very good at managing exertion and recuperation. I tend to force myself into rigid schedules of what I think should be productive or relaxing. I tend to continue exerting myself on a single-minded goal when some switching off of goals would be beneficial in the longer term. Hmm, I must ponder more.
