Spice Cookies

My husband bought a nice digital camera, so I can finally take photographs of the food I make! I'm so excited. To celebrate, here's a recipe for spice cookies.

Yummy! These are very much like the Ginger cookies I make, but I don't cook them until they are crisp, since I like them chewy.

You could probably sub butter for the crisco (I always do, but I haven't made this recipe yet). :)

You could sub butter in for crisco, but it would change the texture, I think. If I remember right, butter makes for a chewier cookie?

my roommate made these yesterday, but she calls them molasses cookies. sooo gooood.

Spice/ginger, molasses etc ... they seem similar to ones I baked today, though, after looking at your recipe, I was inspired to add some freshly ground cloves to my recipe because the recipe I was going to use didn't have any. Will add some nutmeg next time as well since I forgot to add any this time.

Your recipe does seem to use almost twice the sugar as the one I'm using, though I ended up rolling mine in granulated sugar before baking them. :)
