Mmm char siu. I'm so used to it being that unnaturally bright fuschia-ish pink because I always make mine from a packet. But this is awesome. Looks delicious.

I tried some in a slow cooker the other week - it was DELICIOUS but looked more like pulled pork, obviously.

Eh, I'm an ex-pat living in Tokyo and none of that comes standard in apartments here. It's been sucky not being able to bake, but we are moving back to the good ole' USA this October so it's all good.

ahhh I LOVE char siu, especially char siu bao but this will do :) I also love eating char siu and bok won ti together (a type of sweet rice cake)! Thanks for sharing this!

When my friend and I go to Uncle Yips in Cincy, I get myself a whole tray of them and because my Partner In Crime is diabetic they're ALL MINE.

I've made a version of this with honey instead of sugar, and no food coloring. Delicious.
