I'm curious as to why you consider this food porn.

seconded - maybe if there were some pics or a recipe or even slightly more than a vague idea of the cake... but just this by itself is a journal entry.

yeah I was wondering too?

isn't there some rule against recipes? I vaguely recall that.

*goes to skim rules*

I too am confused. That's a whole lot of words for a) no picture and b) no recipe hinting at making my own porn. I stopped reading midway.

From the user info: lovingly detailed descriptions of delicious dishes and meals are encouraged.

I'm not sure how "yellow cake mix and some kind of fudge frosting" counts as "detailed".

The rest of the entry is quite detailed.

"I'll spare the details from this post but only cuz I'm xposting it."

. . . . lol

Hey, honesty is always the best policy.

... can we have a picture? Maybe an approximate recipe? The fudge icing perhaps?

Otherwise this sort of reads like a boast masquerading as a post - which hey would be fine if it came with a picture =)

I'd actually argue about this being 'detailed' (unless the 'detailed' is the emotive responses related to eating the cake and the historical background). Obviously no debate over the 'lovingly'.

Just to clarify, my response was a request for further details rather than, as below and above, condemnation or otherwise of the post.

(Given this - um - slightly hostile response from the mods, I'm a trifle bit concerned about participating in any discussions in this comm. So, as a white flag: apologies in advance for whatever offence I caused for asking questions and making a joke)

Yes, this precisely.

There is no rule against this in this community and, in fact, I encourage people to write posts like this. Porn may be in written form, in addition to the photographic kind. Personally, I prefer reading about food and people's memories and emotional responses, rather than looking at photos.

That being said, if somebody attempts to post a "I ate a cheezburger today. It made me feel funny in my bathing suit area. hurrrr." I am going to reject the post.

Given this - um - slightly hostile response from the mods

I'm not quite sure what's hostile about posting a reminder from the guidelines, but if I came across as such- I do apologize.

Text doesn't convey emotion very well, especially while I'm in rule reminder mode. So, don't worry about participating in conversation. I only get snatchy very rarely and it's very obvious when I'm actually mad.

So basically you just posted a bunch of text that is mainly reflections about your mom and some boxed cake. With no recipes and no photographs.

And... how did this get past the moderators?

More something that was born of a boxed cake and has evolved over the course of my life...to be specific.

how did this get past the moderators?
I'm assuming they read it and liked it.

Or maybe they're too busy with their jobs and lives to read every word. Seriously, if the comments haven't been clear enough that this sort of dreck is unwanted, maybe you should rethink your membership in this community.

It's not as though you don't have other communities to troll. I know, I've seen it firsthand.

Given the amount of stuff I do post elsewhere and the extreme little I post here, did it ever occur to you that maybe I actually do give that some thought.

Give you credit though, this is the first time you've not sent me a comment here and then deleted it immediately so only I got it.

Added: Although, I would like to add, that most of the gunk you've complained about before...you were in the minority about their lack of worth. This time, yeah all commetns seem to agree it was a bad idea. I'm just saying...
