Those actually look rather artistic - porcupine meatballs all dressed up!

I've never had forbidden rice, though I've seen it in the store and thought about buying it - whats the flavor/texture like in comparison to standard white or brown rice?

It has a little more texture than regular rices. I find it's comparable to the sweet smell of basmati but it is shaped differently. It's squat like risoto.

Mostly it is just beautiful. I have had it in rice pudding before and that is my favorite way to eat it.
It has more protein and iron compared to regular rice which is why I wanted to try it.

Using the forbidden rice just makes the name so much more fun.

Since my family's been serving procupine meatballs for three generations, I could do with a little change. And serving these to my mom would be kinda "forbidden." Thanks! I'm looking forward to trying it!
