My cooked artichoke pictures didn't come out nearly so porny, though the heart was HUGE! It was great.

Holy Crap! Please allow me to express my EXTREME artichoke envy. :) They're my favorite food on earth, but we just get little tiny tough ones that aren't nearly worth the bother in our stores. I wanna move where you are!

We usually get the little ones, too - this is very unusual! I don't know where it came from originally, but Trader Joe's hooked me up. Less than two bucks, too, which is also pretty unusual.

Oh, we had a bunch of those around here a while back for $1.50 each (now they're gone). I found the leaves a bit tougher than the normal-sized ones, but oh, the giant delicious hearts.

Mmmm, artichokes.

I wish we had a Trader Joe's in the state.

I definitely agree that, taste-wise, it was nothin' special over a regular artichoke.. but so big!

Artichoke stems are my absolute favorite part so that picture makes me want to cry...we get these haggard old artichokes that are over four dollars...lame....

Dude, a few weeks ago the farmers market here (SF) had the biggest freakin artichokes I had ever seen - and they had left the stems at like, over a foot long. You could use one as a sceptre. A delicious sceptre.

My TJ's had a box of 5 small artichokes for $2. They are really tender and good, and the perfect size for my smallish appetite. Yours is really gorgeous! Ahh, I love artichokes.
