Potluck foods?

Jun 05, 2007 14:51

It's been potluckpalooza at my office lately and I'm running out of creative ideas of different things to bring. I brought spicy chicken fried rice to the last one and a quiche to the one before that (all homemade, of course). I want to do something different.

So here's my question to the audience? If you had a potluck to attend, what would you

So weird, because I'd actually been thinking about a chicken stir fry. I'm just not sure if I have enough to make with what I have at home.

I have a TON of stuff to make cookies though.

What about a nice pork loin roast? sounds odd, right? I make one with fresh garlic, rosemary, and olive oil rubbed in and then wrap it in garlic and bake it...it tastes just as good cold as it does hot. It would certainly be something different!

I make this sesame mayonnaise from The Silver Palate. Not authentic but easy & delicious. Mix it into cold cooked Chinese noodles with cilantro, top with sliced cucumbers & chopped peanuts.

Sesame Mayonnaise
1 whole egg
2 egg yolks
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 1/2 cups salad oil
Asian chili oil to taste

Put the egg, egg yolks, vinegar, soy sauce & mustard in the bowl of a food processor; process one minute. With motor running, slowly drizzle in sesame oil, salad oil, and chili oil to taste, until emulsion forms. Scrape into container and cover in fridge until ready to use.

i definitely vote for something sweet.
maybe cookies, since they always go down well?
you could also make a chocolate ganache to go with them as an icing, & bring it along in tubs for people to spread on as they wish.
