Theme Dinner 1

The first theme dinner was held last night - Russian/Eastern European. I think it went really well, at least well enough that everyone decided to do it again in 6 weeks! That one will be Sub-Saharan Africa, which none of us knows anything about, so recipes will be challenging and fun

Hahaha kvass. That was one of the few things I refused to try over in Russia.

Russian cake or ice cream would have been the shiznit for dessert, although the candy approach sounds like fun. :)

(I guess this isn't terribly interactive, but those were what I thought of reading your post. It sounds like fun!)

The kvass was surprisingly nasty! Apparently it's terribly popular; it's got to be an acquired taste.

The girl who brought pelimi has been to russia and says the ice cream is amazingly good; I wish we'd been able to try some!

Yeah, kvassa is supposed to be popular...but I just couldn't do it. :)

Yeah, the ice cream there is better because it has a much higher butter fat content. ;) The Russians loooooooove their ice cream--even in the middle of winter.
