Fruit salad help

So I find myself with the delicious conundrum of having a whole lotta fruit in the house, and a man can only have so many smoothies before boredom and despair sets in. (Wow, where did that all come from? I apologize, I don't usually write like this. Anyway.) I was wondering if someone had, not so much a fruit salad recipe as much as a ( Read more... )

my favorite chicken salad:

cubed white meat chicken
halved red grapes (lots)
pecans
chopped celery

dressing:
half mayo, half sour cream
add black pepper, basil, and some tarragon

In Addition:
i've found that very sweet fruits go well
with a small amount of sour cream and a
sprinkling of brown sugar. (especially
bananas, but i'm thinking of your peaches
in particular1)

a chilled canteloupe soup? that might be too much
like a smoothie, though.

slive your apples thinly and eat with thins lices of sharp
cheddar, or some brie!

If you like curry, add some curry powder to it. It really sets off the chicken/grapes combination.

Well, you could do something akin to a waldorf salad. I usually make it with plain yogurt as a base -- the recipes tend to call for mayo. I bet you could do something with sour cream, maybe... sweeten it and taste it and see how it goes? And I think all those fruits would probably work well together in a salad like that -- bonus if you have some celery and walnuts or pecans to toss in.

Between the peaches and the cantaloupe, I'm not worried about the sweetness. But yeah, this was the sort of thing that I was thinking about.

the base for Filipino Fruit Salad are a mix of condensed milk and i guess just basic cream (like Nestle cream). i wouldnt know how sour cream works for fruit, if you do end up using it, lmk how it turns out :)

I actually just tried this at a picnic on Friday. Someone brought a fruit plate and served it with sour cream and brown sugar. You dip it in one and then the other. Weird, but good. :)

Maybe some kind of fruit pizza? I'm not sure that works with the grapes, and it might be cream cheese I'm thinking of instead of sour cream (uh . . .yeah. it definitely is). But I read this and started thinking about fruit pizza. Yum! :-)
