plums

plums. i've overwhelmed with plums. besides the obvious pie/tart recipes, do any of you lovely people have any suggestions as to what to do with them?

Oooh, good idea (the butter)..I have too many plums too.

Do you skin them first? And how do you store this/for how long?

you know, i hadn't considered this. i'm not a canner so i'm not sure... maybe i can find someone to help me learn. i did once help a friend make and can pumpkin butter, though.

also, use the basic recipe in the pectin box, but add a good-sized handful of grated fresh ginger.

If you give it away, be prepared for people wanting more. Every year. Forever. :)

well my boy once made me a pluot smoothie, with just pluots, and they're like plums i suppose - it tasted ok, i don't think they were particularly ripe enough. i think a plum smoothie by itself would be just fine, although i don't see why you couldn't throw peaches or nectarines or strawberries or or or in there with it. :)
i've just started to try smoothies out so i'm kind of just throwing things together to see if they taste good!

plum crazy purple! sorry I had to type that.....
How about making fruit leather with them?

I also found this site..never tried any of them but plum salsa sounds kind of interesting........
