These are without doubt the most bizarre Hornblower covers I have ever seen!! I really want to know what the artists were on when they designed these. Something hallucinogenic I expect... ;)

Eh, the first one isn't so bad. It's like those black-and-white pictures that add some color to the shot.

The second one, though...How does that even remotely relate to Hornblower and the Atropos? When was the book published? If it wasn't the sixties/seventies, I'll be shocked.
