If anyone has noticed the snapshot that I use as my "author photo" in various places, including the back of hard copies of Beyond the Ocean's Edge, you may have noticed that I'm in front of a painting of a frigate. I like the way you used the right angle of the walkway to frame the geometry of the ship. And the softer shape of the man and the child are repeated in the flag.

And I love the Forrestal in the distance. Lovely.

Lotsa things wrong with this picture, but it works! It was at Mom's place from the time I painted it until she and my sister passed away. Hangs by the front door now.

Daughter and I were there and aboard for a turn around cruise in 2005. I'd like to go again, especially as they've lowered the rails/bulwarks and it is easier to see over.

Oh that's grand! I love the composition. Somehow the Forrestal in the distance really makes it.

Coincidentally, this may work for the "boats" challenge???
Boats? That's not a boat! That's a ship!! :P I might just let you off with it though ;)

If you look closely, there are two boats on davits. Probably three, but I don't think I put in the portside quarterboat.

It is simply coincidence that I decided to snap the picture of the painting and post it (on my LJ) when the challenge came up. Anyway, it's gotten much better response here than on mine. And I'll clutch at straws until they shred under the force of my death like grip!
