I watched The Duchess and The Devil last week for the first time in ages. I've watched clips often enough (*cough*) but it's a while since I've sat down and watched the entire episode end to end. So, a few brief thinky thoughts, with pretty screencaps :)

I have always felt that this chapter is the pivot point of the whole story. It is the top of plot mountain, so to speak.

(And of course they kissed-- the film editor has got that part at home.)

Robert Lindsay ♥ I watched him on Have I Got News For You the other day, and he wore tinted glasses. And was fabulous. How is he not in everything, ever?

Also, some time ago I watched an old Lewis episode which guest-starred Cheri Lunghi, and once again I was struck how utterly beautiful she is. How is she not in everything, ever? She's stunning.

JB does have a good profile, and Archie, with his stubble and determined mouth, looks very manly in that cap.

I saw that episode of HIGNFY too. Mr Lindsay was splendid!

Cheri Lunghi, and once again I was struck how utterly beautiful she is.
I've been rather in love with Cheri Lunghi ever since I saw her in Excalibur at an impressionable age. She's also tragic and devastating with PMG in The Monocled Mutineer.
