Happy Birthday Archie Kennedy!

It doesn't seem fair that Horatio is the only one who gets to celebrate his birthday round here. So, for reasons that will remain obscure, I have unilaterally decided that Archie's birthday is the 12th of February 1775. And here to celebrate is one of my favourite pictures of the man himself :)

Sorry that my birthday post for Archie is a little late

though my excuse is that ,apropos tomorrow being a special day as well, Horatio has been trying to compose a Valentines Day acrostic for Archie and he is not as asept a poet so it is taking rather longer than might otherwise be

he looks splendid in that picture and you can catch hints of the inner core of him when seen in this really good image quality

That is a very interesting 'portrait' of Archie - I've never seen that particular picture before. He looks determined but also somewhat guarded - since he's in his midshipman's uniform, if I was going to be creative about it I would say that this is either very shortly before Horatio comes aboard, or on Indefatigable right after they pick up Simpson. He definitely does not look relaxed or happy, he almost looks like he's clenching his jaw, and his eyes hold a hint of a dare in them.

I'm probably reading too much into it - likely the photographer just pointed the camera and told Jamie to look serious! - but if I was going to write a fic about this picture, that's when I'd set it.

I have always wondered if he'd had a late night before this picture was taken! Perhaps he spent the night in the Ukrainian hotel casino with Robert Lindsay? XD
