Sailing in the evening light : a lovely small painting

This is a little gem of a painting I have just discovered in going thorugh my mother's
autograph album from the 1930s and 1940s It is not precisely the Indefatigable but I thought Following Sea readers would enjoy this ship under full sail

I just love that ship. There is something very serene about her :)

Yes there is isn't there ? At first it made me thinkn of Captain pellew and his little bit of coleridge but this ship doesn't look idle even though painted does she ?
she must have a fee handsome lietenants on board I think !
going to post the story to go with it next on my LJ - and also think i will amke cards from it maybe for some charitable purpose
