Review: Flying Colours

I read Flying Colours while I was traveling recently and I have to confess I didn't get on too well with it, or rather with a certain Captain H. I wrote this review at the time but have held off posting it in case I changed my mind. I haven't, so here it is.

Horatio was awfully whiney. And I really wish he had kept his pants on with Marie. I feel that Forester gave him 'women trouble' to make him appealing somehow, but I just found it disloyal. I mean if he is married to Maria, and pining for Barbara isn't that enough?

But, having said that, I was so touched by how he worried after Bush and Brown. He was so good to them. He can be good and brave for others, even when he can't for himself. I find that very dear.

And I loved Bush in this one. He was so human, you just want to hug him and feed him cookies!

That does seem to be the general consensus over at my journal! And I now feel guilty about being mean to the poor old grump :(

I have to agree that Hornblower's attitude to women is a bit erm....

And I loved Bush in this one.
He is stupendous. And Brown too!
