A few completely random thoughts (with pics!) on watching The Frogs and The Lobsters recently, in no particular order.
PS I somehow managed to post the draft of this to my own LJ yesterday rather than the final version over here at
following_sea.
azdak kindly commented over there so I have copied her comment below :)
Robert Lindsay as Pellew is awesome as ever.
Archie checking out Horatio's arse will never not be hilarious.
I always feel really badly for Estelle Skornick. She is not at all bad as Mariette but there is a distinct lack of chemistry.
Archie is not coping at all. Hardly surprising really, but it's painful to watch.
I suspect Anthony Sher may be on something.
WTF is that on the wallpaper behind Horatio's head?! And why is Horatio pouting at the Marquis?
Matthews is completely and utterly brilliant.
If your orders are to remain on station off the coast of Brittany, surely the very last person you would send ashore is your sailing master?
I am utterly fascinated by that way Sam West sits on that horse. How does he remain so erect?!
This scene just breaks my heart.
I find it really hard to watch the scene where Archie panics on the bridge. I often close my eyes.
It always strikes me as being out of character for Edrington to ask Archie to "Look after him".
I soooo wish we could have seen the corresponding shot of Archie smiling at Horatio on the yard arm :}
