On behalf of Captain
Anteros_lmc, whose desk is snowed under with Admiralty despatches and orders just now, I come with news of a fun seasonal challenge that will also benefit a family in Africa and other causes supported by the British charity Oxfam. Its a reverse caption competition, and more about Oxfam and how to play further down, under the cut
Archie is unwrapped again this Christmas! No,sorry, its still not that Archie :
but this one,Oxfam's very cute Archie the goat here :
And once again
anteros_lmc and
nodbear are offering as first prize in this contest a virtual goat - that is that the winner will get a thank you card and information about the farm animals scheme and Oxfam will be able to help another family.
This year the winner and runner up will get a chocolate surprise, whose purchase also supported Oxfam.
Heres how to play
It is a variation on the popular caption contest. Below are five captions or punch lines and we invite you to find a picture(s) that goes with the caption.Or to write a drabble or other mini fic with the line as the last line or included somewhere in the text.Or draw something or make a very short video. In other words whatever medium you like as long as it features one of the captions.
Title each entry Archie Unwrapped 2013 and use the 'other:challenges' tag and I will seek to get a Challenge: reverse caption tag created too.
You may enter as many times as you like for the same caption or for several and there will be a poll to decide the winner and runner up shortly after the deadline which is December 21.
Captions are as follows:
1."Just this once, and for King and Country".Mr Bush waited nervously.
2. " I did tell you to bend it on securely, Archie" Horatio remonstrated.
3. Sir Edward's latest prize was causing quite a stir on board.
4. Mr Bracegirdle had had better days,he was ready to admit.
5. Archie found he often got the best results that way
Oxfam is a non political, non religious charity which provides both emergency and long term development assistance in many countries, working with local people and other agencies in partnership.More about them and about the schemes involving farm animals is at their website www.oxfam.org.uk
