When I'm doing an issue's extravaganza as a group solve, I might do a couple of the warm-up puzzles when I get stuck or bored or everything's being worked on by others. But when I just download & print at home for solo-solving, I pretty much never do the warm-ups.

fwiw, I tend to do all of the warm-ups only if there's a hidden contest lurking somewhere. Otherwise, I'll always do any logic puzzle and the rest depends on time.

I echo that sometimes the hidden contest draws my attention to the warm-ups, but for the most part I ignore them. Not that I don't appreciate well-constructed non-hunt-style puzzles, it's just not what I go to P&A for.

This is my answer, too - usually only the hidden contest and the logic puzzle.

I guess what I should have said was "Of course, every issue I take a couple of hours to do all of the warm-ups before beginning the Hunt part. I mean, they're warm-ups, everyone is supposed to do them, right?"

I usually do them as "cool-down" puzzles. They don't actually warm me up for solving the 'ganza faster, right? So why would I penalize myself on time more than I already have to by starting with them?

That said, I do enjoy most of them once I've either solved or given up on the meta, and I'll fill in details later.

I do some of the warmups sometimes, but like nmhz, as cool-downs after the 'ganza is done.
