:S Personally, I think getting a dog so soon after the passing of one that was a part of your family for so long is too rushed. Wayta moarn or something o.O; thats just what I think though....
Do you remember that old t.v. show "All Creatures Great and Small", from like the 70s or 80s about the british country veterinarian? Those were based on a series of stores written by the guy, the veterinarian, and one of the things he always mentioned was that he thought it best to get a new pet, dogs especially, as soon as possible after an old loved one died. This was a man who took care of animals, and got extremely attatched to his own pets as well.
The idea behind it is distracting yourself from the grief of losing, let's face it, a pet. Distracting yourself from grief of losing a family member is different, because they're.. yknow.. human.
Not that I'm belittling the role animals play in our lives and happiness or anything, god knows I'd cry if one of my kittens died. :| It's just implying that it's easier and more natural to get over the loss of a pet than a person.
I think for the most part thats true, it being easier with animals then people, but after you grew up with the animal your whole life I feel its a little different then something you just had for a few years.
I wonder if it does help to just go out and buy a new family member if one passes o.O?
Sometimes people end up like, getting married or changing boyfriends and stuff after a parent dies. Or having babies. So in a way, it's like replacement.
WHOSSAT BEENS O 3 O I traded for Tuesday off too, but we're doing dinner stuff for Faithy's birthday and iano if you're invited or not. Maybe we could hang out inna morning or afternoon though? Call me tonight, we'll see.
