Generally I manually set apeture and then tweak exposure. The camera I'm using tends to over-expose, so I start at -0.7EV and go from there. I post-process, but generally minimal white balance / contrast / crop stuff.

I hardly ever go fully manual. Not a big enough photography nerd for that.

I still think your monitor must be about +0.7EV brighter than true or something :)
Nice picture though, I love the way you've arranged it against the background. If you actually want any criticism, then I'd just suggest some light on the front would bring up the detail on the base of the globe nicely.
