I am trying to participate but I am having such a hard time writing...so let me say 'yes' to participating and then I'll drop out if I don't get any writing done on my vacation.

Hey I totally understand! I just wanted to know if there were any participants on LJ because frankly, if there isn't, I don't want to have to post stuff twice. Good luck with writing (I had to drop out as artist myself!)

I understand the dropping out part, though I hope a lot of people still participate!

as of the time of this posting, we have:
19 authors
27 artists
6 Pinch hitters (which we do not need)
10 Beta readers

Would definitely love to have more authors if they can manage it because we have SO MANY ARTISTS OMG

In my 5 years artists tend to be the ones to disappear, both betwen initial sign ups and after assignments are handed out (many won't have interest in their assigned story and just vanish into the night). I really HOPE you won't need pinch hitters, but in my experience the sign up numbers will not match what gets turned in more on the artist side of things.

Personally speaking, if all stories get an artist I might still want to add an art piece for one. I'm about to go underground for most of May, but when I come back I'll hit you up if you haven't messaged me already.

Hey, I definitely appreciate your insight on that. I've switched from arting to writing, only because I won't have a paid subscription to photoshop by the time I get the assignment. I really hope we can hang to most of our participants.

Wherever possible I tried to assign two artists per story, particularly if they weren't people I knew AKA people I knew would definitely turn something in. That way the author hopefully got something in the end. It's a bit like herding cats, though. You try to get everyone settled up, but ultimitely you have no control over who does what. So far you guys have been doing really well!

I recall very vividly one year in which a lot of artists dropped out. Don't remember which one it was now -- not the reverse one for sure.
