AHHHHHHH YAY! My prompt! I was so thrilled to see this fic this morning. Thank you SO MUCH for creating this lovely little world filled with so many beautiful details. I loved your descriptions of things in Xing from the kite fighting to the gardens and the way Ling was still Ling, finding a way to do things his way in the face of tradition.

The relationship you developed between Ling and Riza was very sweet, but what was just as well done was how you incorporated so many other characters so well. I loved your use of Al, because it just maked perfect sense, and the fact Winry would ask Ling to cut back on his baby gifts. LOL I can so imagine him going over board. But yes, all these details really came together to create a beautiful, well thought out little world that I enjoyed very much.

Thank you so, so much for this! It totally made my day. :-D

ETA: Ah! I can't believe I forgot to add my favorite line of the piece!

The gift she’d left him with was far less tactile. I'm not sure what it was, but this just grabbed me. I love that ( ... )

You're very welcome for your story. I'm glad it was worth the wait!

Since it's taking place in Xing, I wanted to offer a little view of stuff that might be happening there. I love kites, so I had to include them, and if I had a bunch of money, and lived in a nicer area, I'd so want an Asian-inspired garden.

I had to have a reason for Riza to approach Ling, and Winry started complaining about jade dragons and other goofy things that Ling had been sending Ed and her as baby presents (and Ed's totally into the dragons, but even he thinks they have enough). It just seemed like the perfect opening, so I went with it.

Yes, I figured that Riza wouldn't actually have a physical gift to give Ling, but...there are always other gifts to give.
