From the journal of Terence Benjamin Boot

[Folded between the pages of this entry and the last is the March page from a pocket calendar, with the 17th circled in purple ink and "Susan's due date?" written next to it.]

8 March, 2002/Canterbury, England

The cradle is ready; our suite has been scoured from top to bottom (again); piles of clean nappies are stacked two by two; there's lists of names and tiny tiny socks everywhere I look; and if we were actually planning on going to hospital for the birth, we'd have a bag sitting by the door too.

I guess that means we're as ready as we're ever going to be for our baby to arrive. God help us. We're going to need it.

Progression on the Wolfsbane Potion for Ron is going much smoother than I'd originally predicted despite the time crunch. Those international owls back and forth to Guangzhou and Guangdong Province have been nothing less than lifesavers for everyone involved. Trust the resourceful Chinese to know a way to cut a few corners while brewing without sacrificing effectiveness.

I can't forget once the baby is born to send out birth announcement owls to Hae Lin Lee, Mrs Jin and Lei. It's the least I can do since they've been such a great help to us with this project.

Oh! And an announcement and a nice long letter by Royal Mail to Mrs Weatherby.

I also cannot forget to have the mobile nearby to keep Mum and Dad updated once Susan goes into labour.

It's a good thing I'm so used to list making.
