Because you know, the building blocks of life are based on sealed jars of peanut butter being stored at room temperature and being exposed to fluroescent ceiling lights.
Not to mention that the formation of life from these building blocks obviously has very few steps involved and therefore could realistically happen within the shelf life of a jar of peanut butter.
