The Magnetic Fields are one of my favorite bands--short of some of the obvious choices like Dylan, you won't really find a better lyricist than Stephin Meritt. It's all great. Pogues are good too. OAR is music for assholes.

indeed, you see the term 'musical genius' passed around quite often... but Stephin Merritt is clearly a lyrical and compositional genius.

i've never heard of the pogues, and don't listen to the other 3 very much, but magnetic fields. jesus. they're AMAZING.

Same MUSIC group. I own about 10 of their CDs, so I hear different songs at the very least.

I got some Magnetic Fields from my brother a while ago. I haven't listened to it much, but I liked it.
Going off of your techno thing..I've started to really enjoy DDR music. *shrug*
I've never heard of the Pogues. Hm.
