I seem to be highly susceptible to fests, and also to medieval period dramas.

I have signed up for the harryhetbigbang! This is probably ill-advised on many levels, but I have a really good idea for a long-ish Harry/Ginny fic and I'd like to give it a shot. I've never participated in a big bang before, and this one isn't really all that "big" since the requirement is only 15,000 words, but that's still longer than 98% of my other HP fics ( Read more... )

OOOOOOOOH. OOOOOOOOOOOOH. I may sign up for that too! I have an idea for a solid, plotty Harry/Ginny fic that may just fit the bill.

ALSO, my other fic for your fest will be posted tomorrow! I am eternally indebted to you for your patience.

Also-also, I wish I had HBO/Showtime. I want to wait the Borgias and Game of Thrones like burning.

There's always DVD. :) In the case of GoT, it might even be a better way to watch the show, since it seems like there is going to be a LOT to keep track of from week to week.

And yayay! Looking forward to your takingitinturns fic. I would love to have you come play in the BB with me too. *bats eyelashes*

Yeah, I'm going to wait for NetFlix to pick them up, it'll be grand.

YOU WIN, I signed up, because I want to write this damn fic and this seems a good way to do it. My takingitinturns fic was basically 10,000 words, so this will be a cinch. HILARIOUS.

10,000 words of Toscafic? Yay!

What's the specific bent of this BB? My interest is piqued, though god, that's a lot of words.

It's just any Harry het pairing -- Harry/women, basically. So it's pretty wide open. From the signups it seems like there is a good variety of different pairings.

15,000 words is a lot but not an enormous amount of words. I know how fast you write, and you're definitely up to the task!

THAT IS SO TEMPTING. Harry/Luna is one of my OTPs EVER, I don't have to tell you that as you know the depth of my kink there, like some kind of enabling Giving Tree. I'm going to mull this one over~.

I don't know about this one, but in the big bang I did, there was artist claiming - descriptions of all the fics without author names were posted in the comm and artists claimed them.

You could encourage artists to sign up, though. Big bangs are often short on artists and they make authors so happy.

Hee, excellent! Although I am not looking at that comm, because I don't want to be tempted.

Oh, holy crap.

I have to sign up for this, and yet I barely have time to write as it is. But I have a huge Harry/Ginny-centric idea that I've been waiting to use, and this would be perfect for it.

Damn.

ETA: Was also completely unprepared for the June 1 deadline, which threw me for a loop for a few seconds. But I'm all signed up.

Yay! How awesome is it that a bunch of H/G fans will all be writing these long fics at the same time?? We'll have to do some little progress check-ins along the way or something. :)

I think the June 1 deadline is for rough drafts, but then we have until August 14 to do a final draft. They even have some rules about what makes a rough draft, like the story has to have a beginning, a middle and an end. So obviously it doesn't have to be totally, 100% done on June 1.

Oh yes, please let's do progress check-ins! I'm going to need all the nudges I can get on this one. My writing docket is completely full until July, but I couldn't not do this one. At least it's not quite as big as the usual Big Bangs.

Am somewhat placated by the fact that it doesn't have to be 100% done on June 1, although I rarely write fics longer than 5k, so having double that in just over two months is a bit daunting. *bites nails* Must get to work on plotting soon.
