It's funny you posted this. . . . I just wrote a paper about the word 'religion', that is, how the Latin etymology is a contradiction to its colloquial connotation. That is, it implies 'binding' or a 're-visiting' through dennotation, yet, in mainstream thought, it is implied that through religion one is 'liberated' from the torments of a finite and empty existence. Are you free when you are bound to something?
