With a proper meal in him (after months on MREs, he's not about to complain about boar stew and fruit), John's beginning to feel a bit better. Optimistic, even. "Down here, Sheppard!" he called out to him, standing and holding up one finger to Carter. "Now, see, just wait. I finally get to prove to him that you're real."

Carter looked up, getting to her feet after a moment. She saluted Sheppard, remembering that McKay had called him Colonel. "Major Samantha Carter," she introduced herself.

"Uh, stand down, Major," he grins, and holds out his hand. He hadn't really known what to expect of Carter from the way McKay went on and on about her. Big breasts and flippy hair, probably. But Carter is...refreshingly normal.

"Major John Sheppard. Time's weird in this place, I'm still a Major when I appeared, and apparently I'm a Lieutenant Colonel from when McKay appeared." His grin turns smug as he looks over at McKay. No, that's never going to get old.

McKay rolled his eyes. "Yes, let's lord the position all over our heads once again because God knows that didn't get old after the first thirty seconds of it." His eyes were on the food in Sheppard's hands and he was acting like a hungry stray. "So uh, food? You really just brought it for me? No tricks, no favours, no 'McKay, I need you to do this'?"
