Grief is just like that. Just like that. (Sometimes it just hits me and I say, "I miss my Dad," and boom! there it is.) And John would be so perfect with little kids. And Rodney is SO AWESOME.

Dude, I was all excited because yay Elementary!verse and then you made me cry, you fink. *sniffle* This is sad and heartachy and beautiful. I love second-grade-teacher!John so much, and you write the kids so well (almost like you have experience! ;) ), and I love that John's inner sarcastic voice is now Rodneyvoice and that Rodney is seriously pissed off that John's dad was an ass. And I am so happy that they have tangled feets and peace and home at the end. ♥

I like this entire verse, but I really love this story. It is such a realistic, cathartic dealing with grief, especially grief for a loss that was a long time ago. I cried by the end, and then re-read it :)
