This is an awesome write-up.
If you're going to be in that house for an extended time, a generator sufficient to run the well might be useful. As I've posted before, whatever they choose to call this flood, I expect we'll see another of about the same magnitude within 50 years, since similar ones happened in 1965 and 1921, so having some extra camping-at-home stuff may be worthwhile.

Good to hear you survived with minimal damage and great stories! Floods around here tend to be much less dangerous, and yet more "stuff" gets destroyed, and more people panic.

I'm glad you made it home Wednesday night to hear "my hero". Most awesome acts of nature are best experienced in two's. I know you've gone from no home to too many homes in a very short time. I'd like to offer to host a game night to help recreate some normalcy. You can have a bonfire and free rein in the house. You can turn off the heat, water and electricity and feel right at home.
