That's crazy! Can Ottawa go through a year without someone striking? Didn't OCTranspo just strike a couple of years ago? Almost, almost makes me sympathetic to Stephen Harper's removing that right :/

Except that Stephen's law wouldn't affect the transit workers because it only applies to Federal government workers, and in particular the bureaucrats, as I understand it. It'd have done nothing for us. I'm wondering if there's any way we could get the municipal government to declare them an emergency service (what with the 10+ centimetres of snow we just got and the bridge closure) to send them back to work. I think I might actually email my councilor and ask.

I'd say no... The posties are also on strike currently, but just the administration workers. I feel really bad for any of them that were on the picket line over the last few days, though, it's been bitterly cold. All contracts should be signed in spring, summer and fall, and no strike mandates should be allowed in winter, especially exam season.
