FMA 104

I have been listening to Ravel's Bolero on repeat for the past few days. It's badass.

Oh FMA )

I spent the whole chapter going "All right, so which loose plot point leads to the time travel that will undo all of this?" When I'm down to time travel as the only solution...

There's a part of me that wants rock to have just fallen, because of the fandom explosion that would no doubt happen. I enjoy explosions. However, my evidence for impossibility is: it'd be redundant to now kill all the sacrifices, but they can't somehow win against God-is-Dead-Because-I-Ate-Him Truth because it's not like Izumi is going to be able to help repopulate the world, which would just leave things up to Mei. And that's not right. Therefore everyone isn't dead, QED. I just have no idea how everyone's going to get around to not being dead.

Ha! I was thinking about time travel too. Pretty sure all the other possibilities have been shot down in canon. Except for whichever one I'm forgetting, the one that was only alluded to once and then never mentioned again, and that has only a one-in-a-million chance of working anyway. Right?

I also enjoy explosions. I really, really hope that if rocks really did fall, the reaction makes it to Fandom Wank, because there hasn't been anything FMA-related there in awhile.

it's not like Izumi is going to be able to help repopulate the world, which would just leave things up to Mei.

But! They actually don't have to repopulate the world; the circle only surrounds Amestris. Surely this will be a call to arms to the rest of the world, who have no idea what is going on and whom the Amestrian army has spent the past several centuries antagonizing!

Oh snap, the rest of the Armstrongs are still in Xing, aren't they?

I am not a fan of the Undo Button either. I really, really think it's what's going to happen, though. But yeah, who knows, maybe it'll be awesome. I think the worldwide call to arms would have been cool at one point, but it is just way too late to introduce something like that.

Actually, I was reading the comments on fm_alchemist and talking to clodia_risa and realized that I may have been misinterpreting page 29. So now I think Bradley and Scar and Hawkeye and the chimeras survived, in which case Scar's new arm is totally the undo button. That should be pretty cool, right?

The sound effect on pages 32-34 was "zu" and the sound effect on pages 35-36 was "do" (D'oh!). Honestly, Japanese sound effects never seem logical to me, so I am just as willing to believe that they're life sounds as anything else. But I can most easily imagine that the "zu" was the sound of the souls being sucked through a metaphorical straw, and that the "do" was, like, a heartbeat sound or something, although then you would think they would use the actual conventional ( ... )

My official theory is that they somehow tie Father down and make the array that Scar's brother showed them and then Scar uses his power of creation (because all other alchemy isn't working because Father won't allow it) to restore the country. May and probably Hohenheim help because they can also do alchemy independent of Father.
