This is gorgeous. I love pretty much everything about it. You have the Damon/Elena relationship down perfectly, and it's such a painful and wonderful read. This killed me:

Beautiful. These two are all about what they'll never say, and what they never have to say.

He tries being selfless but thinks he's selfish most of the time and then he forgets how to tell the two apart.

Fantastic. This whole story is wonderful.
