I've been messing around with the Match.com-type things for well over a year now, and have yet to have any luck meeting anyone... or at least, meeting anyone that I'd want to meet.
It's disheartening to actually, finally put oneself out there (if only in a tiny, online kind of way) and have it come to naught, but I guess that's just the way it is.
And yes, I know it's mostly my fault, for being so particular about who I'll meet, but I can't help being picky.
Hopefully you'll have better luck in your quest.
RL friends reading your fic: Hey, you think that feels weird, try having them read it and hate it! That makes you wonder if everyone online sending comments of the praise variety is just messing with you, or have no idea what they're talking about. Because hey; these RL people are the ones you really trust. They're the ones you listen to about all sorts of things, so if they think the stories are crap (or even just 'blah'), then what are supposed to think?
