Glee Auditions Round 2: Step Right Up and Give It A Whirl

Mar 15, 2012 13:00

Rachel cleared her throat, gaining the attention of the whole room. "Good afternoon glee club and glee club hopefuls," she greeted, glancing over at the seats situated to the side, away from the rest of the group. "As you are well aware, this afternoon is the second round of auditions for the year," Rachel began, making sure to meet each of their ( Read more... )

Niki stood and glanced briefly at his cousin, Quinn, then shouldered his guitar. While his cowboy hat was missing since he was indoors and that wasn't polite, there was no mistaking that he was a cowboy regardless of his long hair. "Never done anything like this," he said as he stood inf front of the glee club, "but it's always good to try something new, right?"

Oh hell no. No. Glee was bad enough as it was and now Niki was going to be there, too? Quinn only hoped he sucked at singing. But then, he didn't really suck at singing and that just sucked for her. Maybe she could just make sure to not sit near him. She definitely had too much Niki in her life.

Mercedes listened to Niki, tilting her head as she envisioned where he would fit melodically with the other boys and the group as a whole. She couldn't help but think how much fun it would be to braid his hair, but that was beside the point. She kept her best poker face on as she checked the 'in' box next to his name. She liked this ballot idea Rachel came up with, it would definitely make the process less dramatic.

Kurt listened to Niki's voice, leaning back and closing his eyes. He liked Niki's voice.. though the music generally wasn't his thing, and Niki reminded him a little bit of Brokeback Mountain, with the cowboy-and-gay thing he had going on. He liked him. He opened his eyes again, putting an x in one of the boxes on the paper. Niki was in.

Dave enjoyed Niki's performance. Niki was a really good. This made Dave anxious. He had only really ever sung in the car or in the shower. This would be in front of people. People who generally don't like him for obvious reasons. Dave was glad Niki and Fio signed up too. Friendly faces in this club was always a plus. Dave took a huge breath and stood when it was his turn to sing. He made his way to the front. He briefly looked at Kurt and gave a small smile. "I don't really know what I'm suppose to say here..so I guess I'll just sing." Dave said as he gestured to Brad that he was ready.

As Dave sang his eyes made their way to Kurt on more than one occasion. He did his best to make sure he wasn't obvious and he wasn't entirely sure if he was successful.

Santana's eyes had widened when Dave Karofsky took the stage. Like seriously, what. the. fuck. was this all about? That guy was like number one asshole after Grayson Rutledge. The she saw that his eyes kept flitting to Kurt Hummel and she frowned for a moment before it dawned on her and she shifted in her seat. Well, wasn't that fucking rich? Really, this club was full of the gays weren't they? That made her uncomfortable. She didn't want people to start to think that shit about her. Flash be damned. They were totally going to think that now if Dave had a thing for Kurt.

She frowned and ticked "no." It was already bad enough with Hummel and Smirky McSmirkerson. Now, Niki was auditioning and Dave Karofsky? Like just...no.

Kurt's eyes were positively glittering. He was on the edge of his seat, a big smile on his face. He was totally focused on Dave's face and listening intently, and once during the song when Dave's eyes met he winked at him, his lips forming a silent 'doing great!'
He ticked of the 'yes' box. No question. Dave's singing had his heart beating at double speed and his voice was like velvet to his ears.

Tina sat up straighter when Dave took the stage. Seriously? Why were all of these jocks and cheerleaders trying to join glee club? It really weirded her out. She sighed when his performance was actually decent. Sure he wasn't quite as strong as some of the other guys in glee but he definitely wasn't bad enough for her to justify voting no on that basis. The fact that he was a jock did kind of made her want to vote no but she'd voted yes to the cheerleaders so she wasn't really sure that was a fair basis for a no vote either. Of course, none of the cheerleaders had ever personally dumped a slushie on her, she couldn't say the same about Karofsky.

She glanced around, trying to figure out what everyone else was doing. She couldn't really get a read on anyone else though. Sure Santana was frowning but when wasn't Santana frowning really. Eventually Tina checked "out". She kind of felt bad about her decision but having Dave Karofsky in glee just seemed way too risky.

Sam stepped up in front of the group and stuck his hand in the air, waving. He was nervous, but he could see Tina, Mercedes, and Finn and relaxed a little. He cleared his throat and slid his guitar over his shoulder.

"Hi...everyone, I'm Sam Evans and I'd really like to join the club." He'd already given the music to the pianist, but then he looked over and shook his head. "You know what? I'd like to do the acoustic cover instead." The guy nodded once, his sloppy hair falling into his eyes. "I'm not sure how many of you guys listen to The Smiths, but if you aren't, they're pretty cool. Anyway, I'm gonna be doing a cover of 'This Charming Man.' I guess...here is goes."

So, this was the frosh Quinn was going on a date with? Santana thought as she watched the kid with the Bieber haircut take the stage. He kind of looked like Quinn's brother, but whatever. She guessed she could get that. If there was a guy hot like her, she'd probably want to fuck him too. This kid, though, he was totally lame and really kind of too dorky for Quinn, but he was a jock and she was willing to give Quinn the benefit of the doubt here. Plus, he'd just rocked out The Smiths which had surprised the fuck out of her. She thought he'd sing some lame as Coldplay song or something. She ticked the "yes" box and smiled a little at Quinn.

That guy had to be gay. The hair was a complete give-away. Which straight man would bleach his hair like that?
Kurt smiled and listened. The guy was actually very talented.. and very cute too. He ticked the 'yes' box. Talent was always needed. Gay was just a big plus.

Tina grinned when Sam took the stage. She was really glad that he'd decided to audition. They were in Chicago together, so she already knew that Sam could sing and his performance definitely didn't disappoint either. This decision was a no-brainer and she ticked the "in" box next to his name before he'd even finished performing.

Puck had his guitar in his hand as he strutted his way into the music room. He seriously couldn't believe what he was doing. It was pretty much social suicide. But he'd done a lot of thinking (and maybe a lot of jerking off too), and he'd come to conclusion that whatever he had seen in that flash had been a vision from God. The Jew God, that is. He wasn't totally sure what it meant, but he was pretty sure that Jew God wanted him get in Rachel Berry's pants and tap the hell out of itSure she was loud and even a little bit annoying, but she was hot. She also wouldn't shut up about Glee club. He figured maybe if he got in, it'd give him a better shot at getting her to put out. His eyes on Rachel the entire time as he strutted to the middle of the room ( ... )

This was getting ridiculous. There were more football players trying to get in glee than one of Fabray's parties. She was going to ask her brother if there was some type of dare going on she should know about. And this dude was making eyes at Rachel! She was officially in the damn Twilight Zone. She looked at Tina, her eyebrow raised slightly. They had to get their numbers up so they could compete, and even though Puck was a known man-whore, maybe if he had a thing for Berry, she could get him to behave enough. She let out a sigh, listening to his voice and wondering if this was a good idea.

'In' She marked.

Kurt gave the guy a chance, even though his fingers were visibly itching to mark something. He did not like Puck. Puck had been horrible to him, and the guy was such an arrogant..! He shook his head a little bit, ticking the 'no' box. He just wasn't going to let a guy like him in. He had the worst possible reputations, and Kurt had a scar on his shoulder with Puck's name on it.

Quinn was surprised to see Puck, too, but she grinned. It was kinda cool he was joining. And he totally had to have some hidden agenda. But he didn't question her and she wouldn't question him. She marked the 'yes' box and sat back against her chair.

Fio swallowed as she smoothed her hands over her skirt once more. Part of her was terrified about doing this. Maybe if she was lucky, she could sing one stanza and not have to worry about it. Part of her wasn't even sure why she was trying to join, but there were quite a few popular kids now and Dave had been thinking about joining as well.

When it was her turn, Fio got up and made her way to the front. "I'm Fiona Jackson.... I'm gonna sing The Rainbow connection." Her voice was soft, and there was a firm nervous tremor to it, but it wasn't bad. It had a pure tone to it. The longer she sang, the better she got and stronger her voice seemed to be.

Dave recognized the song immediately and smiled as Fio began to sing. He thought she was doing an excellent job. The original Muppet movie was his favorite movie of all time, not that he ever told anyone. Well Fio knew. He had made her watch it no less than a couple dozen times thru out the years. He didn't get a vote but he couldn't imagine them not letting her in. Dave gave her a big thumbs up when she finished.

Hey, Fio! Finn waved a little at her, giving her an encouraging smile. It kinda sucked she waited till after they broke up to join, but whatever. Finn marked yes.
