Jen stared at the message she'd typed out to Emily. She quickly deleted it and tried to figure out the message she should send. She wanted to talk to Emily about this. She needed to she just wasn't sure how. Maybe she should ( Read more... )

Emily took a break from going over the difficult bits of one of the Cheerios' routines when she heard her phone announce a text from Jen. She grabbed the towel and walked over to her desk, grabbing her phone. She rolled her eyes as she read the text.

Say cake one more time. What are you some kind of cake junkie?

After reading Emily's reply Jen spent the next minute or so sending her text after text with just the word cake. She stopped when she figured Emily would probably murder her if she sent the same message one more time.

We could always make pie.

Sometimes Jen was so strange. She rarely said what she wanted directly. Instead, she'd show up or send random texts until Emily gave in and drew her reasons out.

I can't. Nationals are next weekend. Strict Cheerios diet. What's up?

I'll miss you.

Jen hesitated before typing out the next part of her message.

I kissed someone today. I'm supposed to be taking a break? So...I should do that, right?

Emily could hear it in Jen's tone. She was pushing it, but she didn't care. They were best friends and clearly they had kept far too many things from each other and it had almost ended their friendship. She'd be leaving in a few months and they wouldn't be able to talk as much and she was actually terrified that they'd stop being friends all together.

"What if I said that you're not talking to Cheerio Emily, you're talking to best friend Emily?" She tried again with a sigh.

Jen bit her bottom lip, silence stretching between them as she struggled to decide what to say. "Josie" she finally whispered. She cleared her throat, she wasn't ashamed of what she felt for the other girl. "Josie" she said again a little louder, "she's...please don't be a bitch about this Em. Please."

It took Emily a moment to realize who Jen was talking about. When she did, she laughed. Not a mean laugh, just one of surprise. "Wow...that's...well that's just really random. It wasn't who I was expecting you to say. I don't know who I was expecting, but definitely not her. I don't really know what to say about that." She was sticking to her word. She wasn't going to be her usual bitchy self about this. If anything she was relieved a little that she didn't have to worry about Jen and Puck anymore. "How did that happen?"

Jen smiled at Emily's reply. This was definetly Emily her best friend not Emily HBIC. "Well, when we weren't talking and everything, I started sitting with Josie at lunch and then we started hanging out and then today, we were watching Breakfast at Tiffany's, she kissed me. During the part where Holly is singing and it was just so cute and romantic and I don't even think she meant for it to happen like that. At that pefect moment. But it was so wonderful." Jen blushed, realizing that she was just going on and on.
