Here we go, guys! Gosh, I did end up posting these. Twenty s1, five of The Eleventh Hour, one OTP indulgence and one of Idris. Hope you enjoy my dabbling! Any and all feedback is appreciated!
I'll be saving some of the Ninth Doctor ones, can't get enough of Nine.
As a beginner, you should check out some tutorials! icon_tutorial has great stuff, that's where I referred to when I first started. All the buttons and settings scared the daylights out of me and I couldn't really decide what to do beyond cropping. The community is pretty much dead from what I can tell but there's tons and tons of stuff there! Welcome to icon making! It certainly goes upwards and onwards! :)
Thanks a lot for the advice as well, I really appreciate it! I've been looking for tutorials indeed, and found some comms like this-my problem is, I love doing icons but I have too little time to delve into it properly (always wanting to do 153 different things, that's me =P) and therefore I get impatient/puzzled/hopeless quite quickly whenever I can't understand a tutorial right and feel out of my depth, lol. I'm bad like that. Like all things, it requires patience and work… But that comm does look pretty great and has a beginner tag and a Gimp tag, which should be very helpful! So thanks again for directing me there :)
Yeah it's like that as well! I tend to spend about an hour or so per icon, depending. If I do basic colouring and stuff like that, quicker, but I get so caught up playing with textures that I'll spend 30 or more minutes just goofing off with them. As a result I never seem to make more than 10 icons per day, if any at all.
I'm glad you found it useful! I didn't actually realise it was dead until I linked it because I've not looked at it in a while. I could've sworn there was a second community for tutorials but it seems to have disappeared! Ah well.

Textures sound like a great thing… someday I will end up figuring out what it's all about :D (Sounds like layers are the first step in that direction, though.)
I have gimp-tutorial saved in my favourite links, too-I get so frustrated when I find a good-sounding tutorial and it's for PS, lol. Anyway, people posting helpful stuff like that is really great ♥
Thank you so much, I'm really glad you liked those! Haha, the Ten one-I'd just discovered a new colour thingie and pretty much went wild with it, I had to order myself not to do a billion alternates and to choose the one that looked most fitting instead ;) Delighted you liked the result!
