I liked Christmas Carol a lot until I thought about it, and the more I thought about it the more it sort of slid down further and further in my Christmas episode rankings. Matt Smith was wonderful though, I've been enjoying his take on the Doctor quite a lot and he's slowly become my favourite part of New New Who. I like Rory a lot too, and while I go back and forth on Amy Pond I think Karen Gillan is fantastic.

I completely agree re: production values, s5 is just gorgeous visually, and though a petty part of me is a bit bitter we didn't get that kind of visual depth in the earlier seasons, I am mostly content to enjoy the ride. I enjoyed s5 ... less intensely, let's say, than I enjoyed s1-s4, but I do still enjoy the show and I think the s6 trailer looks fab. (I'm particularly impressed with the Utah landscape. I scoffed a bit when they were filming there, but it really did pay off.)

Rory took a while to grow on me but I really like him, too. I guess I just wasn't really sold on his and Amy's relationship at first, and then I actually kept getting kind of teary over them in the finale, LOL.
